The Town of Tonopah web site lists 12 restaurants, ranging from fast food to medium-high-end dining.
The Pittman Cafe in the Mizpah Hotel is conveniently located and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Jack Demsey Room in the Mizpah Hotel is used for special events and functions. We will explore dining opportunities for members with the Mizpah should we win the bid.
Across from the Best Western along Main Street is the Tonopah Brewing Company, approximately 1475 ft / 450 m walking distance from the Convention Center.
The Stage Stop Cafe at the Tonopah Station Hotel (approximately 1.1 mi / 1.7 km from the Convention Center) has an eclectic decor, reasonable prices, and a separate dining room for parties of 10-20 (call ahead for reservations on the large room).
Hometown Pizza is approximately 800 ft / 240 m walking distance from the Convention Center, close to the Belvada Hotel.
Most of downtown Tonopah would fit inside the buildings used to host many recent World Science Fiction Conventions, so few places downtown are far from each other.
During large events like the town’s annual Jim Butler Days, catering trucks come to town. Should our membership reach the higher end of our projections, we will explore inviting some of these vendors to join us to serve our members (and the people of Tonopah).
The Convention Center has a built-in barbecue grill and a large kitchen available for our use included in our facility rental, and we expect to use these facilities to our members’ advantage. If you’re with a group considering promoting your group/convention/event at Westercon, we’d love to talk with you about what we can do to make it possible for you to use these facilities (again, at no additional charge) in lieu of traditional “room parties.”
