Room reservations for Westercon 74 are now open! Tonopah has approximately 500 hotel rooms, of which approximately 200 are within walking distance of the Tonopah Convention Center.
We expect all of our rooms to be quite reasonably priced. All hotels include free parking, and there are no parking garages or height restrictions. Where possible, we include below room rates shown for likely dates in July 2022. Rates do not include 9% transient occupancy tax. Distances to the hotels are approximate distances from the Tonopah Convention Center.
When searching the Mizpah, Old Brewery Hostel, or Belvada websites, you must put in PROMO CODE WC74 in the SEARCH FOR AVAILABILITY form before searching for dates; otherwise the hotel will show no rooms available. We have blocked every available room in all three properties.
The interactive map below includes the Convention Center, the Mizpah Club (where some convention programming will happen), most of Tonopah’s hotels, and selected other points we think would be of interest to people planning their stay in Tonopah.
Belvada Hotel (90 m / 300 ft)
Closest to the Tonopah Convention Center is the Belvada Hotel, now open after the completion of a $3 million restoration. ($116-$143/night, promo code WC74) Four rooms include kitchenettes. Five floors (no sleeping rooms on ground floor), one elevator. You must put WC74 in the promo code field of the website when searching for availability or the form will show no rooms available.

Mizpah Hotel (140 m / 450 ft)
The beautifully restored historic Mizpah Hotel is one of the closest hotels to the convention center. ($98-$125/night, promo code WC74) You must put WC74 in the promo code field of the website when searching for availability or the form will show no rooms available. The tallest building in Nevada when it was built in 1907, it has been restored to its classic elegance from the days when Tonopah was the center of the action in Nevada during the great silver rush. The hotel includes the Pittman Cafe, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Many of of its rooms are named for historical characters of Tonopah’s mining days. The hotel has five floors (no sleeping rooms on ground floor) and one elevator.

When our bid team visited Tonopah over Memorial Day 2019, we spoke with hotel supervisor Rae Graham and her wife Kayla (a staffer at the adjacent Mizpah Club casino) about the Mizpah Hotel, the town of Tonopah, and how they think a Westercon here would be a good fit for both the convention and the town.
Old Brewery Hostel (140 m / 450 ft)
The Old Brewery Hostel (managed by the Mizpah) offers 2 queen and 8 full-sized sleeping rooms with a full-sized kitchen & 2 community shared bathrooms (1 with accessible/roll-in shower) for budget-minded travelers. ($50-$55/night, promo code WC74) You must put WC74 in the promo code field of the website when searching for availability or the form will show no rooms available. Possibly a larger group of 10-12 people might want to consider booking the entire hostel.
Jim Butler Inn & Suites (450 m / 1450 ft)
Also downtown is the Jim Butler Inn and Suites, a relatively small two-story hotel (no elevator, but ground-floor sleeping rooms available) conveniently close to the Convention Center. ($69/$78/$87/$95 single/double/triple/quad occupancy) The “and Suites” refers to a small number of oversize rooms.

Best Western Hi-Desert Inn (160 m / 525 ft)
The Best Western Hi-Desert Inn is the farthest away of the “walking distance from the Convention Center” downtown hotels. For comparison, at the 2018 Worldcon in San Jose, California, the distance from the entrance to the main exhibit hall to the Fairmont Hotel (site of evening hospitality functions) was approximately 520 m / 1700 ft. ($144-$175; includes a breakfast bar.) The Best Western is the only hotel in Tonopah with a swimming pool. The hotel is two floors (sleeping rooms available on ground floor) with no elevator.

Tonopah Station Hotel (1.6 km / 1 mi)
South of downtown is the Tonopah Station hotel, which is also adjacent to a Raley’s grocery store.
The Diamond Jim suite at the Tonopah Station is particularly nice and quite affordable. ($135)
The standard hotel rooms ($73-up.) are comfortable and clean, with refrigerators. (A microwave oven is available on the second floor landing for shared use.)
Do note, however, that most of the Tonopah Station rooms require stairs to access.
Six standard rooms (including two accessible rooms, one with roll-in shower) and two suites at the Tonopah Station Hotel do not require stairs to access; all other rooms require negotiating stairs. All rooms are on the second floor of the hotel, accessible by elevator or stairs. There are no ground floor rooms.
There is a 24-hour laundromat on the ground floor of the Tonopah Station, open to the public.
The Tonopah Station Hotel also has an RV park, one of several in the town.
